Silver Lining: castles in the ice

castles in the ice

Let's talk about the ice castles in Midway. Sam and I explored them years before they were the cool thing to do in Utah county. We came when they were built three years ago, and they blew us totally away.  I didn't even know people could build things like huge ice castles out of drip hoses, metal, and a lot of cold weather. We wandered those things with our friends for a looooong time, totally in awe and taking pictures.

Also  - SAP ALERT - we love the ice castles because it's the first time I finally told Sam that I loved him too. He'd been telling it to me for weeks, and I would set the record of all-time lameness by saying things like "thank you" back, or just try to quickly kiss him to end the conversation. I don't know how the kid stuck with me, honestly. But it was right in the middle of those ice castles that I finally looked that poor sucker in the eye and said "Sam, I love you." END SAP ALERT

When we heard the ice castles were coming back this year, we were really excited (read: Sam was excited and I was jumping up and down begging to go every weekend). We took the Bennetts. Lately I've been learning about different types of friends. The Bennetts are the very best type of people, and you can always count on them. Even if they're crazy Canadians who don't wear coats in the winter (looking at you Mark!) ;)

Ever been to the ice castles?
Even though they're way more crowded now, I still say it's totally worth it!
