Silver Lining: a fun low-key date idea

a fun low-key date idea

Unlimited babysitting help is one of the best things about having family in town. Last week when my in-laws were visiting, I ran errands (by myself!), took children to appointments without having to drag along the rest of the kids, and even snuck a date night in. It was a treat.

I had so many date night ideas. But as it turns out, when it's 110 degrees out, your activities are limited. And when you're three weeks postpartum, your approved activities are even more limited. In the end, we figured out the only things we could really do were walk and eat.

So we combined walking and eating with a new fun date night idea: a progressive dinner. We went to our favorite spot on Mill Avenue (I love the energy and vibe in that downtown area), and walked from restaurant to restaurant. Some of our stops were old favorites, like the lettuce wrap appetizers we got from PF Changs, and some were new experiences, like our main course from Gordon Biersch. It was a really really fun evening, and we absolutely loved being together without any children for a few hours.

Something I'm trying to get in the habit of doing is checking Groupon while planning a date. We love to use them for their food deals when trying out new restaurants, and we also love to browse the local activities section for great entertainment ideas. (Plus, I recently discovered I can get lots of awesome things like free gifts from Sephora and 40% off my new Nike running shoes by using Groupon. It's not just for date night anymore!)

Thank you to Groupon for sponsoring this post. All opinions expressed are my own. #GrouponCoupons

What's the coolest Groupon you've ever used?
And does anyone have more low-key date night ideas?
