Instant Happiness

Instant happiness = handpicked peace roses in mismatched jars at sunrise.

And now this girl is off to another three-day training, work, and a final exam. See you on the flip side!

What's your instant happiness today?

the rose garden

My grandparents have a rose garden. They let me take care of it. And I guess I'm turning into a morning person(?), because lately I love to spend my early mornings in the garden, feeling the sun on my face, clipping the roses, and reading. I'm lucky my grandparents are willing to share something so peaceful and beautiful with me.

What's your daily joy?

Coral-Colored Suspicions

So, I'm starting to be very suspicious.

Why, might you ask?

Because of the three roses sitting on my table.

Sam keeps leaving one rose a day for me.

Three roses, three different colors, three days.

Day 1: yellow. the color of spring.
Day 2: deep red.
Day 3: light coral. one of my favorite colors.

The first rose was a pleasant and beautiful surprise, the second day was coincidence {and that's stretching it}, but by day three..... I'm starting to get suspicious.

I think he may be going somewhere with this...

Here's my rose routine:
  1. Find the rose
  2. Freak out, giggle, smile, smell the rose, admire the color, show it off to everyone in a 5-mile radius
  3. Unwrap it very carefully and add it to my vase
  4. Pour Sprite in the vase to keep the roses fresh {little known fact: Sprite's the best for rose longevity. I hear bleach works too}
  5. Dance around the kitchen with various roommates who come waltzing in and out
  6. Send Sam multiple texts raving about my latest rose
  7. Stare dreamily at it while dishes and homework pile up behind me
  8. Repeat the next day

I know it's greedy of me, but .... do you think I'll get another one tomorrow??

Snapshots Day 7: Daffodils

Okay.

Okay, okay, okay.

After all those comments and a second read-through,

I realize that my last post was ambiguous.

And unintentionally vague.

{I didn't mean to! I'm sorry!}

So, let it be officially cleared up in all of cyberspace

I am not officially engaged yet.

Although I was very touched by the number of frantic comments, texts and phone calls asking whether I was engaged. I guess people actually read this blog! And will be super excited for me when I do get engaged!

But anyway. Trying to think about things besides being engaged....

..................................

.....................................

Oh yeah. Snapshot du jour:

The daffodils are blooming.

If that's not God telling me He loves me, I don't know what is.

I guess spring, hope, light, and warmth are just around the corner after all.

Blessed

On some days, no matter how many wonderful things are in my life, I still miss that someone who gives hugs like nobody else ever will be able to.

Someone who planned her schedule so she could talk to me on the phone every day on the way home from class.

Someone who always knew what boys I should and shouldn’t date, but didn’t tell me until I asked.

Who knew that Charles Dickens was the best author, and hot tamales were the best candy.

And that the best way to fold socks is to spread them all over the living room floor while watching a movie.

Someone who knew about the art of love, and patience, and Sweet and Sour Chicken.

~

Seven months down, who knows how many years to go.

But it’s okay. Because so many people and things have been making me happy lately. Such as:

Going to the temple (Mt. Timp, because the Provo one is closed practically until the Second Coming)

This man who makes me laugh and lets me cry and stays up way too late with me.

My family, who knows the importance of joking around, and putting an inner tube underneath you on the pool slide so your swimsuit doesn't rip.

Hanging out with the roommates who are in Provo right now, and talking on the phone to the ones who aren't.

Creative writing classes that teach me I'm only allowed four exclamation marks in my entire poetic career, and how to appreciate flowers. Specifically, the beautiful rose garden in my Grandma's yard.

And peaceful visits to a quiet graveyard where I think how lucky I am to have spent almost 20 whole years of my life with this wonderful lady.

I'm so blessed.
