Last night, during my usual Sunday night AH-the-weekend's-over! panic attack, I was making myself a to-do list for the week.
- vote
- deliver 120 relief society fliers
- report cards
- do something for E's birthday
- go to the temple
- finalize those huge life decisions we're making
- lesson plans for my teacher work sample
And then I just kind of stopped and looked at it.
What if I measured the success of my week a little differently? What if it was by the number of students that I took time to really connect with? What if it was the things I did that made others smile? What if it was more giving and less crossing off a list?
So in the end, I'm still going to vote and get those fliers delivered and write those lesson plans. But it's the time I spend outside of those obligations that matters. I'm choosing to focus on giving, not to-do-listing.
