Silver Lining: casual weekending

casual weekending

This was the first weekend in a long time that nobody in our family had anything planned. Nowhere to be, no appointments, no basketball games or baby showers or lunch dates or anything. And can I just say how GREAT is has been? Normally, we pack our weekends full, and that's how we like it. Weekends are our time to see people, connect with friends, go on dates, and do family activities. But this weekend, it was so incredibly nice to rest. We slept in. We cleaned up the treehouse. We went shopping. We watched a movie. We took naps. Jason hung out with some friends. All on our own time schedule, and all because we wanted to, not because we were on a deadline. I honestly want to plan to have free weekends now (maybe once a month?), where we can really focus on NOT being busy. I feel so rejuvenated and ready for the week.

Today after church we went on a Sunday walk. Can we talk about the weather for a second? Holy warm weather, batman! The thermometer inched slowly but surely all the way up to 53. We went for a walk and reveled in the fact that we were in short sleeves (no jackets or anything!). I forgot how glorious spring feels after a long winter. Although, I do have a sneaking suspicion that Utah has been teasing us this past week. I feel like any second, the weather will turn freezing and snowy again, and Mother Nature will cackle at us while we sink back into the cold depths of winter. Warm weather in February just isn't to be trusted completely, you know?

Either way, you won't hear me complaining.

Can I get an amen for warm weather and Sunday walks?

  1. Like you post. but it is too warm for February. Really, a 2 foot snowfall would be really nice!
