Silver Lining: March is here (goals and babymoon plans)

March is here (goals and babymoon plans)

As I'm sitting here typing this, the curtains are open, the sky is clear and blue, and I'm wearing a short sleeve shirt. March is here, and with that comes the official beginning of spring! Springs in Utah are much less green, but also much less soggy than the beautiful Northwest springs I'm used to. I miss the green, but on days like today, I'll swap a little less greenery for the beautiful clear days that are ahead. Bring it on, spring!

Here's a quick recap of my February goals and how I did on them:

+ finish Gallows Thief and re-read Emma - check! Emma is always a great Valentine's month read, and the Gallows Thief was really intriguing and well-paced (although it was abruptly very graphic in some parts).

+ buy a crib - you guys. I am so overwhelmed when it comes to buying baby stuff. I'm slowly accruing a stack of tiny baby clothes, but when it comes to carseats and strollers and cribs, my head starts to feel like it's going to explode! (I get my drama from my 5th graders.) So many options, so expensive, so many safety guidelines, and everyone has a different opinion. It's safe to say this goal was a total fail. Our baby room is still just an empty room.

+ keep up my exercise schedule - The funny thing is, just a day or two after I picked this goal, it became necessary to change my workout routine. Running became rather painful all of a sudden, so I stopped. I'm still trying to exercise as frequently, but I'll do an elliptical workout or a fast walk instead of a run. So I give myself a semi-check for this goal.

+ have a great round of parent teacher conferences - check! Even though it makes for long days, I actually really like parent teacher conferences. My students are awesome this year, and it's fun to celebrate their progress with their parents.

+ feel my baby move - double check! I feel her move all the time, and I love it.

+ read my scriptures every day - also check! Although some days it was five verses as I drifted off to sleep... Still working on it.

And now for my March goals:

In March, I choose to:
+ drink 80 ounces of water a day
+ make reservations for our babymoon
+ go on at least 7 family walks
+ do something awesome to celebrate Jason's birthday
+ prepare to camp with 150 fifth graders for three days (yup, I'm doing it again this year!)
+ start getting serious about post-baby plans for next year and working

Sam and I decided to go to San Diego for a week in April for a little babymoon. To say I'm REALLY EXCITED is an understatement. A week of just us two, relaxing on the beach and seeing new sights - what could be better? Now taking insider tips on the best places to visit and eat :)

  1. I think you have a spelling error on your page. I believe it should say "San Francisco" instead of "San Diego" but maybe I'm wrong ;) hehe. Miss ya girl!

  6. Girrrrrl you know I grew up there right? Best beach is del mar. Park up the street to your right- up a hill- for free parking. You can sometimes see sting rays from the bridge. La jolla cove to see the seals. While you're there hit up the living room for hot chocolate/smoothies/dessert. Belmont park is so fun-roller coaster/old time carnie stuff right on the beach. See if you can tour the star of India- they do over night trips! Balboa park is a must. We did wedding pictures there so very blog worthy. They sometimes do old silent films w/organ players or plays. The science museum there is a lot of fun too. The flower fields in Carlsbad are gorgeous. Then there's knots berry farms, Disney, sea world, Lego land, the zoo/wild animal park... I'm jealous. Have a blast!
