31 weeks

At 31 weeks pregnant,

+ The excitement levels are reaching an all-time high (seriously not sure how much higher they can go... I try to play it cool at work and things, but really, it's out of control. we. cannot. wait.). We babysat our friend's two little ones this weekend, and basically spent the whole time fantasizing about how great it will be when we have a tiny one, dirty diapers and all.

+ Every Saturday is baby day. Two Saturdays ago we set up the crib (of course when I say we, I mean Sam did it all and I sat there offering unhelpful suggestions :)  This Saturday was setting up the dresser, and washing and folding the few clothes we have. Next Saturday is a 6-hour birthing class (gulp). We are in total baby mode.

+ In the spirit of full disclosure, I am starting to feel rather large and in charge lately. I feel big and uncomfortable in general. Also, let me just say: breathlessness and dizziness - my baby is riding so high that I can never get a real breath! And my first three little stretch marks appeared this week, right next to my belly button.

+ I have an irrational fear that my baby will be gigantic. I'm serious. My baby's been measuring big, and both Sam and I were big babies, so I just know I'll be that girl who finally gets induced at 42 weeks pregnant and has a 17-pound baby. Should we skip straight to 6-month clothes?? (In other news, I spent the entire first trimester with an irrational fear of going outside in an inversion. I thought for sure my baby would have three arms if I breathed that polluted air for long enough.) Don't tell me I'm crazy. I already know.

+ Yesterday, Sam said "This is how your pregnancy's gone: at three weeks pregnant, a switch flipped and you felt terrible and nauseous. Then, at sixteen weeks, the switch flipped again and you felt wonderful. Then, at thirty weeks it flipped again and you feel uncomfortable and irritable." He's totally right. That's exactly how it's been.

+ Did I mention how excited we are? Every night Sam has daddy-daughter time where he lays his cheek on my belly and talks to the baby. She squirms and kicks back without fail, and we just get so excited to meet her. Hurry up and get here, baby! (But not too fast. School has to end first, and you need to get some meat on those bones and those lungs fully developed first.)

  5. haha. i am at 38 and a half weeks and I AM DYING! I have resorted to talking to her and telling her that she can come out whenever she likes. I just want her here! I totally understand your excitement. Hopefully she drops sooner rather than later so that you can breathe again =)
