Silver Lining: a tour of the new nursery

a tour of the new nursery

The first stop on our little tour of our new place is the nursery! My daughter's room is by far the room I get asked the most questions about - where things are from, how I choose to decorate - so I thought I'd share what I did.

Her room is about three times bigger than the little nursery we had at our last home, and Claire couldn't be more thrilled about it. Yesterday I caught her just walking around in big circles in her room. I think she was happy that she finally has enough room to do that! Haha.

Bright, neutral nurseries are all the rage right now, and I'm so happy because it's exactly my style. I love the look of white furniture accented with bright-colored decorations, so I went with almost exclusively white furniture. Then I added a few pieces to bring in fun bright colors to the room. I am all about calm, bright, airy rooms, and the best part is that if we ever have a little boy, I can easily change this into a boy's room by changing my colored accents.

See those three cute prints above her crib? More about that - and a giveaway! - coming soon to a blog near you :)
I handmade this mobile when I was pregnant with Claire, and we still love it. Just another thing to add to my paint chip craft obsession :)

So much time is spent in this little play corner!
We finally got a Diaper Genie. It only took us one whole year - ha! - but I'm so glad we finally picked one up at Target. What I love is that it meshes perfectly with the white furniture in the room, and doesn't scream baby. It just looks like a chic accessory. And I can't tell you how nice it is to not have a trace of dirty diaper smell in the nursery.

Plus, I'm loving the Mommy Time rewards program, where I can earn points for rewards just for me. Be sure to take advantage of the Diaper Genie “Mommy Time” Rewards Program! Earn points to use towards great rewards for yourself every time you buy or register for  Diaper Genie products.
I usually keep her blankie in the crib for bedtimes only, but today she spotted it hanging from the side of the crib and grabbed it. She was one happy girl snuggling with it!

My daughter reads books to her Diaper Genie and her blankie. It's normal. ;)

Her room also has a huge walk-through closet, which isn't shown because, full disclosure, it's the place we've been keeping the last few boxes that we just don't really have a place for yet. Why does it always take two days to unpack 95% of the boxes, but six months to unpack that last 5%?

Happy Monday!

P.S. Almost all the questions about where things are from can be answered in this blog post.
