Silver Lining: Number 26

Number 26

Dear iron,

You and I have had lots of interaction lately. I took a quiz on you today. You have 30 neutrons, 26 protons, and 26 electrons (assuming you’re stable, but really, can we assume that about anything, or anyone, these days?).

Also, I’m proud to say that I’ve been taking your pills every day! Twice every day, actually. You should be proud of me because now I have enough energy to make it through my busy school and work days, and then even have energy to go to the gym at night.

And speaking of gym, I have been lifting a lot of you lately. Not tonight, because the gym was crowded and made me claustrophobic and did NOT help my strange new anger problem. But thanks to the help of Johanna, I’m using you to build muscles and trim fat from places I didn't know existed.

Incidentally, there’s a small bruise on my leg from where I ran into a railing made of you on campus today. Can I blame you please?

As far as having an iron will… I’m working on that. I’m good at doing and thinking about the things that I’m supposed to. But, I’m doing horrible at not thinking about the things I can’t have or am not supposed to want right now.

That’s all.

  1. It concerns me a little that you've started talking to Johanna too. Does John know about this?

  2. hahaha Julie! Your comment just made me laugh right out loud in the middle of the library. Oh man. Just don't get me started on stick. Or club. Or whatever that is.

  3. Just wanted you to know that I caught up on reading your blog today, when I should've been tutoring but made up a legitimate-enough excuse not to drive all the way there.

Also wanted you to know that I'm thankful for your appreciation of the fun that you have with us as roommates. It makes me feel that I'm doing something right, and that maybe I am not so horrible to live with after all.

And finally, your dexterity with words and eye for beauty is amazing. I think back to the penned words of a certain Steve Jensen, but then I realize that his writings can't stand up to yours. Want to know why? Because not only do you write beautifully, but with deep emotion, feeling, and heart. Thank you.

One more thing: I might start a blog. Because you've inspired me to create a space, one that is filled with inspiring words and pictures and me. I listened to a speaker who recently encouraged the audience to create a space of their own. I loved the idea, but I didn't know how. The speaker writes novels, and thus creates her space in her books. Perhaps I can take up a small portion of cyberspace to create a place that is full of loveliness and expression, just for me.
