Silver Lining: Eleven months!

Eleven months!

I'm a few days behind, but this squishy one is now eleven months old! I have totally loved documenting the first year of her life with these little monthly posts. I can't believe I only have one more left - in just a few weeks she'll be ONE. ONE WHOLE YEAR OLD. What.

Here are a few thing I want to remember about 11-month Claire:

+ The spike pigtails! They look so silly and cute that I can't stop doing it. She's just practicing to become Boo from Monsters, Inc, right?

+ The newest trick she's working on is standing up all by herself. It's the cutest process that involves a super wide stance, a few practice tries, and lots of balancing with her little bum in the air. But when she gets it, she's so proud of herself!

+ She just figured out how much fun it is to take things out of their containers. She empties the DVD drawer at least five times a day, and if I ever make the fatal mistake of leaving the bottom drawer of her dresser open a little, you better believe all her sheets and blankets will be scattered around her room in a matter of seconds. Too bad putting things back in their containers isn't nearly as fun as taking them out. ;)
+ She's still a pretty voracious eater. This girl eats everything! Sometimes I even have to cut her off at mealtimes. I'm pretty sure she would sit in her high chair and eat all day if we let her. A woman after my own heart!


+ Sometimes I think about having another baby, but then I think that by default, our next baby will have to be worse than Claire. Claire is just so darling, and such a good baby, and I don't know how it could possibly get better with another baby. Someone with multiple children, please advise. Is there even room to get more happy than we are with one baby? Even that crying face is cute!

+ Speaking of crying, she recently reached the "Hey, if I fake cry the humans will give me what I want!" phase. Don't give in, humans! Don't give in! You'll only encourage it! .... But who can resist when they see that face?

+ Yesterday at a wedding reception, she managed to sneak her little fingers in daddy's nutella crepe, and then smeared the nutella all over my shirt. So then I got to walk around for the rest of the reception with brown smears on my chest and shoulder. Lucky me!
